KKA Needs You!

We would like to announce some vacancies within the KKA Committee.  We are currently a small and friendly group of volunteers and we are now looking for some new people to become involved in organising our sport – this could be you!

If you have a few hours to spare per month and are interested in finding out more about how you can contribute to Kent Korfball, please view our vacancies by following this link; http://kentkorfball.com/information/organisation/kka-committee/

New volunteers are always very welcome!  There is something for everyone – maybe you could share a new role with a friend? Just e-mail us via the contacts page and we will be happy to discuss with you!

Junior Development Meeting

There will be junior development meeting on Monday 15th April at 7.30pm at 3 Mill lane, Blue Bell Hill ME5 9RB.

Can each club please send along at least one member (ideally two) who know the junior training structure within your club. The member(s) can then report back to their club about the information gained. We do not need too many people attending this meeting. Please do not send along anyone who has no interest in coaching juniors.

Please find attached a questionnaire which should be filled in and brought along to the meeting. This will hopefully save time. Also bring along any leaflets etc that you use to promote your club as this may prove helpful to others.

It is requested that each club is frank and honest about what is and isn't happening in their junior sessions in the hope that we can share ideas, good and bad, to try and kick start a revival in junior development in Kent.

I have also attached other information you may or may not have seen and may find useful.

Please can you send me the names of people who will be attending this meeting so we know who to expect. So far Steve Kirby and Rachael Fulford have shown an interest. Rachael will take the minutes.

Thanks for your support. Jackie Hubbard

EGM

MONDAY 4th March

THE GRANARY

NEW HYTHE LANE, LARKFIELD ME20 6ST

Dear Clubs,

I have been Chairman of the KKA for just over a year now and have been surprised at the lack of the support (in numbers) the KKA committee seems to get from all clubs. I think for too long now the committee has been a very closed meeting run by the same people within Kent and maybe it has appeared to be a bit daunting to attend. It is for this reason that too many jobs are carried out by too few people.

For the Kent area association to run smoothly, we need to encourage new blood to take an active role in the development and progression of Kent korfball. It is for this reason that I am asking the club's Chairpersons for their help.

We are holding an EMG on Monday 4th March at 7.30pm:
The Granary (adjacent to Church Farm),
New Hythe Lane,
Larkfield,
ME20 6ST.

I am asking for each club to send a minimum of 6 people to this meeting, ideally this would include: Chairperson, 1st Team coach, Club coach, Junior coaches, parents of juniors players etc… The more variety of people attending the meeting, the better insight and opinions we will get from clubs on their vision as well as the KKA's vision for the future of Kent korfball.

Yours Sincerely,
Ross Carr-Taylor
KKA Chairman

Inter Area Success

KKA Squads have had great success at the Inter-Area Youth Competition in Harrow.

KKA were winners at Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 and runners-up at Under 11.

Thanks to all the parents who made the journey up to Harrow, the KKA Coaches and Managers, all volunteers who have given up their time to help our excellent young players and also the KKA referees, Kevin Taylor, Phil Locke and John Haggardt.

This year's competition saw a rise in standards and EKA look forward to holding the competition in the same location next year. First class organisation from Harrow, led by Max Buttinger and a big thank you to Max and his team.

U11 Squad

Rachael and Martin Fulford have offered to take on the KKA u11 coaching roles. Both are level 1 coaches, Rachael is CRB checked and Martin is first aid trained. They both play for Tornadoes and help out with the training and managing of the teams.

After discussion with Ross and Phillip it has been decided that both Rachael and Martin should be given the roles as coaches for the U11 team with the hope of entering a team in the inter- area tournament at the end of this month.

Phillip will be trying to sort out some trials and training times, but it is appreciated that time is short.

We are grateful to Rachael and Martin volunteering to do this as their son plays in the u13 age group.

Please let your u11 children know that it is hoped that there will be trials for the above event if Phillip is able to book hall times.

Happy New Year – Jackie Hubbard – KKA Development
